Contribution from the Trakya University Institute of Romani Language and Culture to the workshop organized by the Ministry of Family and Social Services.

Lecturer Tülay Tekin Yılmaz, Deputy Director of the Trakya University Institute of Romani Language and Culture Research, attended the workshop organized by the General Directorate of Family and Community Services of the Ministry of Family and Social Services for the “Regional Social Status and Living Conditions Survey.”

A workshop aimed at the “Regional Social Status and Living Conditions Survey” was convened by the General Directorate of Family and Community Services. Held in the General Directorate’s meeting hall, the event brought together ministry experts, academics, and researchers to work on defining the main objectives and scope of the forthcoming study.

As an invited speaker, Lecturer Yılmaz presented insights from relevant literature reviews and research projects throughout the workshop and shared her fieldwork experiences.

Recognizing the gap in systematic research on disadvantaged groups in Turkey, the “Regional Social Status and Living Conditions Survey” seeks to examine changes within target populations and compile comparable data. The ministry’s research plan also includes conducting a literature review, administering surveys, and running focus groups, with the results to be analyzed and compiled into a formal report.
